Brief Biography:
Amy Delaney, PhD, RN, CPNP-AC/P is an assistant professor of nursing. Amy received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Georgetown University in 1992 and Master of Science in nursing from Catholic University in 1996. She completed her Ph.D. in the spring of 2024 at Boston College Connell School of Nursing. Her dissertation program of research has focused emerging adults who are living with complex congenital heart disease (CHD), and the management of CHD by the emerging adult and their parent/caregiver from a dyadic perspective and the impact on quality of life. Amy also has an arm of research focused on resilience of parents of children with CHD across the life spectrum, and the financial stressors/impact to families within this population. Amy has received funding for this program of research from Sigma Theta Tau (Alpha Chi Chapter), the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Ethan M Lindberg Foundation. She has several peer reviewed publications with her team-based approach to research.
Amy is an expert in all aspects of pediatric nursing and has dual certification as an acute and primary care pediatric nurse practitioner. Amy has practiced in several hospitals in the Boston, including Boston Children’s Hospital, Tufts Medical Center, and Franciscan Children’s. She continues to provide episodic care in the community as a PNP at Roslindale Pediatrics in Boston, MA. She has lectured nationally and regionally regarding topics of pediatric clinical content and disseminating her research and has taught and mentored for the past 30 years of her career, lecturing and serving on adjunct faculty at several New England based academic centers.
An experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Amy was recognized by the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse practitioners in May of 2022 as the Massachusetts Distinguished Nurse Practitioner of the Year. She sits on the National Pediatric of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (NAPNAP) Foundation Executive Board and is past legislative chair of the MA Chapter of NAPNAP. Amy is also an active member of the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners (MCNP) and served for 10 years as the Political Action Committee co-chair and was involved with this work to see Massachusetts pass full practice authority for advance practice nurses in 2022. She has a vested interest in health policy and legislative issues that impact her patients and families, as well as professional practice issues on a federal and state level. Amy will lead the pediatric course and clinical experiences of the PC nursing curriculum, as well as support the development of the nursing research capstone and related courses.
