Teaching Philosophy:

I believe that all students are capable of learning, given the right circumstances. Students learn best in a caring, supportive environment, where the instructor and the other students are all working together towards a common goal. I always try to see the student as an individual and try to meet their individual needs. Education is not one-size fits all and trying to force a student to learn in a way that does not work for him/her can cause unnecessary challenge in the learning process. I also believe that learning should be an active process. For many of my classes, I use the flipped classroom method so that time in class can be spent on making connections and applying new concepts rather than students passively listening to a lecture. Students bring their own knowledge through past experiences, and we build on that knowledge to make the learning deeper and more meaningful.
